The Diner That Never Changed Its Pie Recipe
For 40 years, Rosa’s Diner in Findlay has served the exact same cherry pie — regulars say showing up on a bad day and leaving with a slice fixes almost everything.
Rosa Delgado opened Rosa’s Diner on Main Street in Findlay in 1985, in the same storefront that used to be a hardware store. She still makes the cherry pie from her mother’s recipe — the same one, no changes, for forty years. Regulars know to call ahead on Fridays because it sells out by early afternoon.
There’s a retired mail carrier named Walt who’s been coming in for coffee every weekday morning since 1991. When his wife passed away in 2019, Rosa says the whole diner showed up at the funeral.
“People don’t come here for fancy food. They come here because it’s the same as it was yesterday, and some days that’s exactly what you need.”

The diner nearly closed in 2021 when the building’s roof needed replacing, and it was regulars who organized a fundraiser to help cover it. Rosa still has the card they all signed taped up behind the register.
Her granddaughter Elena started helping at the register last year, and Rosa says she’s slowly teaching her the pie recipe — but only the parts that can be taught.
